For this project, I saw the skin as the canvas of life. Therefore, I wanted to work with paint. I planned an intimate photographic project with a female nude model – always keeping in mind not to show too much of her. I wanted the model to be a woman because society sees women as very sensual, but also one not too stereotypically feminine looking. It was important to me to portray a strong woman and I found all of that in Yasmin.
For this photoshoot, I wanted to do a very abstract body paint. It was crumbly and slightly transparent and applied by the model herself spontaneously. Her own exploration of her skin is what makes the series so intimate.
I decided to not only make one series, but two supporting each other, because I saw different emotions in them. The detailed shots resemble an interaction of vulnerability and hurt. The model`s tattoos support this impression.
The second series shows the model in a process of sensual self-experience. It is interesting to see her leaving marks on her body, where she touched her skin.
